The American Hospital Dubai Total Joint Replacement Center of Excellence is the first in the Middle East, and only the fourth center to be established in the world, with others in Holland, Spain and Britain.

To ensure quality service with top standards, the hospital has entered into an affiliation agreement with the University of Dundee who continually monitors all Centers of Excellence by assigning a secret code to each operation.

The Center serves physicians in the Middle East, Africa and the Mediterranean basin, with quality training in joint replacement, and hosts a world-class surgeon, who provides consultation and training to fellow doctors and nurses.

The Center, with its extensive surgical expertise, is equipped with the latest technology, including the 'Navigation System', to assist in the accuracy of joint replacement. This latest technology and the most extensive range of full or partial artificial joints are only available at the American Hospital Dubai. This allows Dr Tarabichi to give special consideration to individual patients needs and ensures minimal surgical intervention.

Dr. Samih Tarabichi is the Director of the Joint Replacement Center of Excellence at the American Hospital Dubai, the first in the Middle East and only the fourth in the world.

He is accredited by the American Board of Orthopedics, and is a Fellow of the American College of Orthopedics. Over the past 20 years, Dr. Tarabichi has performed more than 4000 joint replacement operations with over 2000 at the American Hospital Dubai, the largest number of any private hospital in the Middle East – many using a fully flexible knee implant.

Dr. Tarabichi has patented two devices in the US, which are currently used in joint surgery, and has worked with a team of 8 world-class surgeons from Europe and the United States to develop an artificial knee with full flexion capability. This is of significance and relevance to the lifestyles of Muslims at time of praying and which has attracted many patients from around the region

One of the US Government Authorities reviewed all of the joint replacement operations performed by Dr.Tarabichi, and concluded that post operative complications were the lowest amongst all hospitals in Florida.
